Today was an awesome day! Last week I ran 5.0 on the treadmill but today I was running 5.3; 10min run with 3 min walk time! Iam sooo proud of my self. Im getting closer to my goal, 5k and when I reach that; then I have to perfect it then.... 8k! This is really awesome and I am enjoying the ride. Oh yeah did I mention I lost 5 pounds! I have to bring up my strength training now because I been having so much fun running I forgot  about my second love WEIGHTS!!! Dont get me wrong I have been lifting but not hard enough. O well enough about me... You keep pressing towards your goals. It can take time to really learn your body needs but don't give up!  How long did it take you to get to know your self thru puberty? How long did/ is it taking to figure out your for real purpose; you know the one the Lord gave you?
Dont forget we are doing this together!!!!!

WOW!  It has been a long time since the last time we were together. Well I done alot so lets get started.....
I joined The YMCA and it has been great! I don't go to Lucille Roberts any more. The Y accommodations are better for my schedule and fitness needs!
A month ago I was at the Y and I was on the stationary bike for about 30 min. Well about 3 days after my lower back became soooo tight I could not touch my toes let alone bend over and not feel like a robot. It was the worst!!! I went through that for 3 weeks. I went to the Y and spoke to one of the staff and he gave me some great pointers about my back and a way to help my body " even out". It did make it feel better but the tightness was still there.
SO one day I was feeling adventurous and decided to finally go for a run throughout the community. It was awesome!!! by the time I finished I remembered my back.... THE PAIN WAS GONE!!!!!!!! I could not believe it, is running this awesome!!! I have been running in the community ever since! Going back to the track and challenging my self with the distances and I saw good improvements and running more and longer on the treadmill.
I happen to ask the staff at the Y about the diet of a runner. She began to tell me that they have a running class every week and that the instructor is very seasoned and great at what he does. Well of course I joined the class and never looked back. The instructor is very encouraging and knowledgeable. He has been pushing me and Im glad. I still have a 5k to run ( straight through) before snow comes! O, did I tell yal I am also strength training... I LOVE THAT ALSO!
I cant wait when I run far distances. Yesterday was the first time I ran the track 2x without stopping...WOW IM ON MY WAY!!!!
Enough about me, what awesome things have you learned about your fitness quest??? Please share. We are a family, we learn and become strengthened by sharing!! Until next time.... KEEP PUSHING FORWARD!!!

OK so, am I the only one that sometimes your workouts make you feel like....BLAHHH? how come? you see and  feel results so what is going on?
Well I figured it out.. I needed a change of environment. When I am unable to workout at home I like going to the gym, Lucille Roberts, but sometimes I need more. SO....  I always go to the City Ave location in Philly, its big, the staff and fellow workout-ers are great.. but then I got a revalation. THATS NOT THE ONLY LOCATION!!! So now I have the Olney location it is smaller but same great results..  :)))

I guess the moral of this story is that like relationships you have to keep it interesting. Visit new places, use new toys **OOPPS**. Even going for a jog at a park, workout at home, even a large apartment complex layered with hills ( another new spot of mine). There are great ways to keep the fire going! Keep your head up, abs in and stay encouraged, lol. We all will meet our goals; no matter when and where you reach them!!!

OK so have anyone heard of a food journal? It is what people use to track down everything you eat on a daily bases. For different reasons. to track calories, track what foods help or harm you, to track down good and bad eating habits, etc.
Well I'm thinking about starting one because i continue to fight my belly bloat. it is A WHOLE LOT BETTER  than it used to be and I thank a change of eating habits, my new found love walking/jogging and SHAKEOLOGY!.  But for some reason i continue to bloat. For some reason i think it is MILK!!! so that's  why i want to do the journal because i need to find out WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when i am bloated my weight increases ( just from the change in my belly) it is crazy to me. Hopefully I will find the culprit soon! STAY TUNED.....................

NO excuses!

I have heard many people talk about working out and the #1 reason I found that people say why they don't workout is " I don't have time" tisk, tisk. There is always time to get your body moving in the right direction! Here are tips I got from my Health and Fitness class last semester some I have incorporated in my life...
  • Take a family walk after dinner
  • Do yard work. Get your children to help
  • Park farther from the store and walk
  • Turn off the T.V and play ball at the park
  •  Explore new physical activities
  • Make a Saturday morning walk a habit
  • Get off the bus a stop early and walk
  • At the office take the stairs instead of the elevator
  • Instead of sending your fellow employee down the hall a unofficial email walk to their area
  • Bring your lunch to work and walk to the area park/fountain enjoy the air
As you can see these activities will cost you nothing and is very easy to do during your normal daily routine! SO NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!!

Hey everyone it has been a long time... here's the scoop!
I found a new love... walking and jogging (soon running, HA)! I have been doing this for about a month. I go to the track mostly for like a hour or two. Then last month I did a 5k, yup for the first time! Im very proud of my self finished in 45 min 12 sec. Then 2 days ago I joined a gym!

With so many crazy things going on in my life I was still struggling with keeping up with working out. But I was determined that I cant let this continue to happen. So now im back in the swing of things. Workingout really is my therapy. It makes me happy and takes my mind off of everything. Thank God I found my escape!
My weight is back to the beginning but you cant see it, (except for my rear end...dang, J LO!) but I feel it. I know going to the gym will push me on my Quest! So excited.. Oh yeah with the 5k I did it for prostate cancer. Im doing two more in the fall for Autism and kidney research. Yes im amp yal.

Take care everyone and keep moving. Even through all the obsticles, we can and will do this! When your mind is so full with junk it is a great exersise to "walk" out of the situation and look down at it. Clear your mind, refocus, pray and your answer/help/relief will be waiting for you!

Real talk...

Ok, as you can see i have not been blogging for months now. Why you ask it is because of the reality of life. Have I been continuing on my Quest? I have but it has it"s bumps and bruses. I will explain.  Many hinderances have come my way that i am not happy with. I told my self today that i am determined to get back where I was and if i have to get radical to do it so be it! I am not one to back out of a challenge especialy one with myself so I WILL FINISH WHAT I STARTED!!!!! HA. But you know what; Quests are different for everybody and  some have an end and some does'nt; my quest does not so I will get back where i left off, change my way of thinking and proceed on... how about you??!!!
